Nurse of the Year Awards

Nine St. John Health System nurses honored at 2011 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year awards


St. John Health System was well-represented at the 2011 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year awards recently, with nine nursing employees honored in the statewide awards gala held September 29, 2011 in Oklahoma City.

Three St. John Health System employees received top honors as Nurse of the Year in their respective fields. Winners included Larcile White in the charge nurse category, Megan Gregg, medical/surgical care, and Kelly Spann, emergency/trauma care.

Six additional St. John Health System employees were honored as finalists for the 2011 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year awards, including Sunny Bray, oncology; Donna Longfield and JoAnn Rushenberg, quality and risk management; Mary Martin, hospice, home health and palliative care; Gaye Rotramel, education and research; and Brenda Sanders, pediatrics.

More than 250 nurses throughout Oklahoma were nominated by their patients, peers and administrators in one or more of the 16 different nursing categories. Pam Kiser, St. John director of nursing practice, served as the event's chairwoman.
