Jane Phillips Medical Center Pulmonary Rehab Certified By Industry Leader
Bartlesville, Okla. (September 18, 2017) - The Pulmonary Rehab Program at Jane Phillips Medical Center recently received recertification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Jane Phillips’ Pulmonary Rehab Program was the first to be certified in Oklahoma in 2014.
The honor was made possible due to the efforts of Jane Phillips’ hard-working staff and the support of program director Mark Myers, MD, St. John Clinic Pulmonology.
“We are very proud of this achievement because it recognizes our commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care,” said Dee Winters, RN, Jane Phillips program coordinator.
Jane Phillips’ pulmonary rehab program began in 2011 and is located on the ninth floor of the medical center in the Wellness Connection. It is designed to assist those with pulmonary issues (e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD], pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis and other respiratory symptoms) and improve their quality of life. The program includes exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.
“Our patients appreciate the expertise afforded to them and the compassionate manner in which the staff relates to each patient individually,” stated Dawn Lundwall, Jane Phillips wellness services manager.
AACVPR certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. Each program is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee and certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors. AACVPR program certification is valid for three years.
“Jane Phillips is thrilled to work alongside AACVPR to help make people aware of these under-utilized services that are proven to decrease mortality rates and improve quality of life,” Lundwall said.
“We are proud of our pulmonary rehabilitation services staff for their dedication to continuously strive to improve the quality of life for our patients and their commitment to the pulmonary rehabilitation profession,” said Mike Moore, Jane Phillips president and chief operating officer.
