JPMC to Host Annual Heart Walk/5K Run

Jane Phillips Medical Center and BlueStem Cardiology are inviting the community help fight the number one killer in Washington/Osage County by participating in the 2016 Community Heart 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 14. The goal of the event is an awareness of cardiac health, fitness and community involvement.

The event will be held at BlueStem Cardiology on the campus of JPMC. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The 5K run begins at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run/walk will begin shortly thereafter. An awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Medals will be given to first, second, and third place winners in the men’s and women’s divisions. Top fundraising teams will also be recognized.

“This will be the third year in a row that all of the money raised will benefit the Bluestem Medical Foundation, which supports the mission of Jane Phillips Medical Center,” said Foundation Executive Director Mike Wilt. “And that mission includes providing quality cardiovascular and stroke care. Participants can be confident the money raised here will stay here.”

Individuals and company teams alike are invited to take part in this event by having a walking team, running team, or a team that just wants to come out and support cardiovascular care in Bartlesville.

“Some participants are survivors of heart disease or stroke,” Wilt said. “Many participants run or walk in honor of or in memory of a friend or family member.”

Cost for the 5K run is a $25 or more donation per person and includes a race t-shirt if paid by April 29. If you would like to register as a runner, please contact Ladona Harrison at or 918/331-1431. To download a registration form, please click here.

If you are interested in participating in this fun event as a team and raise funds for the heart education, please contact Mike Wilt at or 918/331-1364.
