St. John Health System Advances Plans for Independence Health Service Operations


Tulsa, Okla. (Dec. 29, 2015) —St. John Health System is advancing plans to assume operations of Mercy’s Independence-based primary and specialty care clinic, diagnostic lab, imaging services and retail pharmacy.  St. John Clinic, including primary care and specialty physician practice clinics, will open January 8.  Jane Phillips MedCare Pharmacy opens January 4, and Regional Medical Lab (RML) services will maintain operations at their current location while new construction takes place.

St. John is a member of Ascension, the nation's largest Catholic and nonprofit health system.

An overview of St. John services is as follows: 

  • St. John Clinic will open a clinic at 800 W. Laurel and will offer primary care and specialty services including obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, ear, nose and throat, and general surgery to complement the existing cardiology, urology and neurology services. St. John Clinic will be closed December 30, 2015, reopening January 8, 2016 in order to transition computer systems, software, electronic records, printers and phones. Individuals that need immediate medical assistance while the clinic is closed may call the St. John PulseLine, 918-744-0123, for physician referral assistance or local emergency locations.
  • Regional Medical Laboratory (RML) will continue to offer lab services at its existing patient service center, located at 207 E. Laurel.  Construction is in progress to move RML to 800 W. Myrtle in the spring after construction is complete.
  • Jane Phillips Medical Center will provide imaging services at 800 W. Myrtle. The services will open in the spring after construction, calibration of equipment, and licenses are in place.
  • Jane Phillips Medical Center will operate the outpatient retail pharmacy previously run by Mercy. The pharmacy, located inside the St. John Clinic building at 800 W. Laurel, will be renamed Jane Phillips MedCare Pharmacy. New hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Jane Phillips MedCare Pharmacy will be closed for the holiday December 30 and will reopen on January 4.
