JPMC October Safety Champion Named
November 16, 2015 (Bartlesville, Okla) -- Jane Phillips Medical Center officials recently recognized another hospital associate for their commitment to patient safety.
Heather Cus, RN, noticed that a patient was receiving a certain type of medication that has a relatively narrow therapeutic range. Knowing this, Cus took steps to ensure that the appropriate dose was being administered and that the medication levels were consistently monitored and recorded. Her actions resulted in the patient being properly treated while also reducing the risk of side effects.
"This is exactly what we mean by making sure we have the right medication in the right dose at the right time for the right patient, "said JPMC Vice President of Nursing Susan Shibley. “Heather did a tremendous job of putting those words into action.”
JPMC launched the safety champion recognition program in December of 2014 as a way to honor those who have had the greatest impact on safety and who have further enhanced the hospital’s commitment to quality patient care.
