JPMC Focuses on Safe Surgery and Procedures Week
Bartlesville, Okla. (June 15, 2015) -- In their ongoing efforts to further enhance a culture of safety, Jane Phillips Medical Center administrators and managers recently spent a week focused on surgery. Throughout Ascension Health, June 8-15 was designated as Safe Surgery and Procedures Awareness Week and JPMC officials took time to personally thank surgery physicians and associates for their dedication and commitment to safety.
Leading the effort was JPMC President/Chief Operating Officer Mike A. Moore. Along with other members of the hospital’s Leadership Team, Moore slipped into surgical scrubs and visited several areas within the hospital and surgery center.
“It is an honor to be associated with such an outstanding group of people devoted to properly and safely caring for our patients,” Moore said. “Their daily commitment translates into an outstanding record of quality care.”
Moore said one of the keys to success is fostering an environment where people are comfortable communicating.
There was a time, many years ago, when a person had to have authority to ask a question or express a concern,” he said. “Times have changed. Today, if anyone is unsure of something, they are empowered to speak up and they know that I and my administrative team will always support them.
