Moore Named JPMC President/COO

Jane Phillips Medical Center’s board of trustees has named Mike A. Moore as the hospital’s new president and chief operating officer. During a special meeting held October 6, the board tapped JPMC’s longtime chief financial officer to succeed David R. Stire who will retire at the end of the year.

Moore’s selection concludes a lengthy process that began shortly after Stire announced in June that he would step down effective December 31. A national consulting firm assisted a local search committee through some 40 applications and two rounds of in-person interviews.

"Without a doubt, Mike is the right person at the right time,” said JPMC board member Dave Sigmon who chaired the search committee. “While we interviewed several very good candidates, it was rather obvious that Mike was the most qualified and the best fit.”

Moore, 51, has spent his entire 27-year healthcare career at JPMC. He began as a junior accountant in 1987. After five years as director of accounting, Moore was named in 2001 to his current position of chief financial officer and vice president of finance. He has been responsible for financial and strategic planning, budgeting, and reporting for JPMC as well as Jane Phillips Nowata and the JPMC-managed hospital in Sedan.

Moore’s duties have also included oversight of accounting, business services, materials management, central supply, managed care, and benchmarking.         

“I am both honored and humbled by the board’s decision,” Moore said. “I look forward to transitioning into this new role and leading an outstanding healthcare organization.”

During Moore’s tenure as CFO, he led a restructuring of the hospital’s billing system, streamlined the monthly accounting process, and led integration of accounts payable, payroll, asset management, and materials management, which resulted in reduction of costs and reporting efficiency.

“I am very excited to be turning over my role to someone as capable and trustworthy as Mike Moore,” said Stire. “His leadership and accomplishments help make him a great choice.  I often tell people that he has spent 15 years as my right hand person making me and the organization look good. I believe the future of JPMC is in good hands.”

JPMC is a member of the Tulsa-based St. John Health System and Chief Executive Officer David Pynn said that he is excited about working with Moore in his new role.

 “It has been a real pleasure working with Mike as a member of our healthcare team for so many years,” said Pynn. “He is a caring, dedicated leader and an excellent choice for the position.”

Moore earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Oklahoma State University and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration also at OSU. He has been a certified public accountant since 1991.

Active in the community, Moore has been a board member for the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce since 2007 and is currently serving as immediate past chairman. He has been a board member at Tri-County Technology Center since 2008 and for the Osage Nation since 2013. He has also served as a high school football official for 24 years.

Moore and his wife, Jerri, have been married for 27 years. Jerri is currently the principal at Dewey Elementary School. The Moore family also includes daughter Amy who is a 4th grade teacher at Hoover Elementary and her husband Michael Hodges and 21-year old son Blake who is a senior at Oklahoma State University.
