St. John Health System Names Chief Nursing Officer
Medina will oversee nursing practice, accreditation, infection prevention, quality, regulation, process improvement, case management and patient experience.
(Tulsa) Oct. 26, 2018 — Lisa Medina, RN, BSN, MHA, CPHQ, has been named Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for St. John Health System. Medina also serves as Chief Quality Officer (CQO) for the health system. In her dual roles, Medina will oversee nursing practice, accreditation, infection prevention, quality, regulation, process improvement, case management and patient experience.

Medina joined St. John Health System in 1987, and after an eight-year relocation to San Diego, returned in 1999. She became the St. John Heart Institute program manager in 2003. She was named Director of Quality and Safety in 2007 and Vice President in 2011. In 2016, she became the Chief Quality Officer for St. John Health System.
Active in the medical community, Medina has served in a variety of organizations, including Oklahoma Hospital Association Council on Quality & Patient Safety; a former member of the Tulsa Hospital Council Quality Improvement team, and has previously served on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Ascension Leadership Academy.
As co-chair for the Ascension Quality and Safety Committee, Medina is at the forefront of quality initiatives and decision-making that impacts all Ascension markets.
Medina is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), holds a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University and a BSN in Nursing from the University of Tulsa.
