St. John Rehabilitation Hospital Celebrates Opening with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
TULSA, Okla. (July 17, 2017) – On Thursday, July 13, St. John Health System and HealthSouth Corporation held a community grand opening celebration to commemorate its new hospital, St. John Rehabilitation Hospital, affiliated with HealthSouth. Many community guests and local leaders attended the event to get a firsthand look at the 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 1200 West Albany Drive in Broken Arrow.
Guests also heard remarks provided by David Nicholas, chief executive officer of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital; Jeffrey Nowlin, president and chief operating officer of St. John Medical Center; Mayor Craig Thurmond, City of Broken Arrow; Dr. John Minielly, former patient; and Mark Tarr, president and chief executive officer of HealthSouth Corporation.
“This is where magic takes place. Through this hospital, patients will be treated with a multidisciplinary approach to help them meet their medical and personal goals,” said Nicholas. “We look forward to reaching many milestones for a second time with our patients such as walking, communicating, driving, cooking and getting back to work.”
The freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital includes 40 private patient rooms featuring two isolation rooms, two bariatric rooms and six rooms equipped for patients needing dialysis treatments during their stay. Also included in the 49,000-square-foot hospital is a spacious therapy gym, outdoor courtyard, dining room and dayroom areas. The hospital serves patients overcoming a variety of debilitating illnesses and injuries including stroke and other neurological disorders, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations, hip fractures and complex orthopedic conditions.
Care will transition from St. John Rehabilitation Hospital, which is currently located on the campus of St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, to the new freestanding hospital in Broken Arrow on Aug. 1.
