St. John Receives National Recognition for Kidney Transplant Outcomes
TULSA, OK (February 10, 2017) – St. John Medical Center was recognized by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) as one of 53 U.S. hospitals with the best organ transplant outcomes, according to a Feb. 8 article in Becker’s Hospital Review. The St. John Transplant Center is one of only 30 kidney transplant programs in the U.S. with best-in-class patient outcomes.
“With nearly 280 kidney transplant centers in the country, it is an honor to be counted among the best,” says Irfan Kundi, medical director of the St. John Transplant Center. “Our program takes great pride in returning our transplant patients to normal, productive lives.”
SRTR, a national resource for organ transplantation analysis and data, assesses the outcomes of centers that perform liver, heart, lung, kidney and kidney-pancreas transplants. SRTR evaluates how often patients are alive with a functioning transplanted organ one year after the transplant, then assigns a score. The St. John Transplant Center received the highest possible rating (5) from SRTR.
“This national recognition is a reflection of our transplant team’s commitment to delivering the highest quality and safety to our transplant patients,” said Jeff Nowlin, president and chief operating officer for St. John Medical Center.
