Lamons Named St. John Health System Foundation President
Tulsa, Okla. (June 7, 2016) -- St. John Health System, a member of Ascension Health, has named Lucky Lamons as president of the St. John Foundation. Bringing more than 35 years of professional experience to St. John, Lamons will provide overall leadership and executive supervision to the Foundation including fundraising, strategic direction, and program development. He will also lead government relations efforts on behalf of St. John Health System.
Lamons joined St. John on February 22, 2016. He succeeds Richard Boone, who will retire from leading the St. John Health System Foundation and government affairs on July 1.
“Lucky’s extraordinary service and expertise in community involvement, fund raising and compassion for Tulsa and surrounding communities makes him a natural fit to lead the St. John Foundation into its next chapter,” said David Pynn, St. John Health System chief executive officer. "We appreciate Richard’s longtime service and dedication to fundraising for many St. John programs and initiatives, and his impact will be felt for years to come."
Lamons, a well-known leader in a variety of capacities to both the Tulsa community and the state of Oklahoma, most recently served as the Foundation for Tulsa Schools’ president and chief executive officer. Lamons’ innovative work with the program earned him the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ 2015 Fund Raising Executive of the Year.
Lamons also brings statewide leadership experience with his role as former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, representing District 66 from 2002 to 2010. During his time as a state leader, Lamons represented 35,000 constituents in conjunction with municipal, county and federal entities to provide efficient government services.
Prior to service in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, Lamons served in various capacities for the Tulsa Police Department from 1981 to 2002. Lamons became a familiar face to Tulsans as he served as the public information officer for the Tulsa Police, working to ensure the safety of the community through the communication and release of criminal investigation information to media sources. Lamons also served the Tulsa Police Department in other capacities such as background investigator, Citizens Police Academy class coordinator, police recruiter and recruit training coordinator, field training officer and police officer.
Lamons’ education includes a Master’s of Science in human relations and a Master’s of Science in public administration from the University of Oklahoma, a Master’s of Science in criminal justice from Northeastern State University, and a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and associate degree in law enforcement from Cameron University.
