St. John Health System Launches Online Scheduling for Urgent Care and Emergency Room Visits

TULSA, Okla. (Sept. 29, 2015) — St. John Health System announced today that it has launched Tulsa’s first service to schedule urgent care and emergency room visit times online.

The web-based tool allows patients to visit and reserve a treatment time to be seen at any of the five St. John Urgent Care Clinic locations or at the St. John Owasso emergency department. Users of this new tool do not skip in front of other patients, and all patients are triaged uniformly.

“In today’s competitive health care environment, St. John Health System strives to continue delivering the highest standard of care using technology and innovation that is convenient for our patients,” said David Pynn, St. John chief executive officer.  “St. John’s new online scheduling service empowers patients with more control over the way they visit our facilities. Once a prospective patient receives a projected treatment time at one of our St. John Clinic Urgent Care Centers or the St. John Owasso emergency department, he or she can wait at home rather than sitting in the waiting room. Once they arrive, it’s our commitment to make sure that the patient is promptly seen by a health care professional.”

St. John’s new online scheduling tool is not an appointment, as the nature of emergency room triage does not allow for the scheduling of medical treatment. The tool estimates treatment times based on facility conditions and allows its users to wait from the comfort of home, rather than the waiting room. In the event of a projected treatment time delay, users are sent real-time notifications via phone call and email so they can continue waiting at home.
