St. John Starts Community Aneurysm, AVM Support Group
April 8, 2015 — Social support is important to the recovery process. To aid those with vascular conditions of the brain, St. John Medical Center and the national Joe Niekro Foundation have teamed up to provide the Tulsa-area community with the Tulsa Brain Aneurysm & AVM Support Group.
Individuals and families affected by a brain aneurysm or arteriovenous malformation (AVM) are invited to join the group, which meets the third Tuesday of every month from 7-9 p.m. at St. John Medical Center in the Newman Room of the Mary K. Chapman Health Plaza, 1819 E. 19th St.
The Tulsa Brain Aneurysm & AVM Support Group offers not only health education through guest speakers and audio/visual presentations, but emotional support through the sharing of personal experiences and care strategies.
The inaugural meeting welcomed 23 participants, and the next meeting is scheduled for April 21. The Tulsa Brain Aneurysm & AVM Support Group is free and open to the public. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the group’s Facebook page. Registration is not required.
