Meet the St. John Palliative Care team.
John R. Hendrix, M.D.
SJMC Palliative Care Program Medical Director
Dr. Hendrix is board-certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2003 and completed his training in internal medicine at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. Prior to joining the St. John Palliative Care program, he served as hospitalist at St. John for six years – the last two dedicated to ICU – and has served as medical director of St. John Hospice since 2010. Dr. Hendrix became medical director of St. John Palliative Care in September 2015 and was named 2015 Oklahoma Hospice and Palliative Care Association Physician of the Year. He is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Society of Hospital Medicine and American College of Physicians.
Jordan E. Brown, D.O., FACOI
Dr. Brown is board-certified in internal medicine and palliative medicine. He received his medical degree from Oklahoma State University in 2007 and completed his residency at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in 2010. He has worked as a hospitalist in Tulsa for the last five years, primarily in St. John Medical Center ICUs. He joined the palliative care program in March 2015 and serves as medical director for St. John Hospice. He is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and a member American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Teri Ratz, APRN-CNP
Teri Ratz graduated with a registered nurse degree from Connors State College in 1995 and worked in an intensive care unit and Same Day Surgery for eight years prior to beginning her career in hospice in 2003. In 2006 she began work with St. John Hospice, where she continued until she graduated from the University of South Alabama in December 2014 with an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner degree, specializing in palliative care. She has been with St. John Palliative Care since August 2015. She is a member of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Sigma Theta Tau, Association of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioners, and Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association.
Susan Ward, RN, BSN, CCRN
Susan Ward joined St. John Palliative Care Program in May 2015. Ward graduated from Rogers State University and Kramer School of Nursing. Prior to joining the Palliative Care team her nursing career at St. John Medical Center was in the Adult Intensive Care Unit. She is a certified critical care nurse and serves as a member of St. John’s Medical Center Moral and Medical Ethics Committee, the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and trained as an End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) educator.
Jaymie Wilson, RN, BSN, CCRN
Jaymie Wilson joined St. John Palliative Care in March 2015. Wilson graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in nutritional sciences and completed a nursing degree from the University of Tulsa. Before joining St. John Palliative Care, she worked as a certified critical care nurse in the Adult Intensive Care Unit. In December 2015, Wilson will graduate from the University of South Alabama with an APRN-CNP.
Kathy Keffer Pitcock, MSW, LCSW
Keffer received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas Christian University and a master’s from City University of New York's Hunter College School of Social Work, and also studied at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. She worked for several years as a crisis-intervention social worker at Calvary Hospital, an end-stage cancer hospital in The Bronx, New York; and additionally worked for St. John Hospice and the St. John Bernsen Rehab Center. She currently maintains a private practice in the Tulsa community. Her palliative care focus is on psychosocial assessments and counseling patients and their families.
Emily Lawrence, MS, RDN, LD
Emily Lawrence is a St. John Medical Center clinical registered dietitian nutritionist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nurtrition with an emphasis in dietetics and exercise science from Oklahoma State University. She completed her master’s degree in nutrition, along with dietetic internship at Oklahoma State University, in 2012. Her primary focus is in nutrition practice in Oncology and Palliative Care. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, and the Northeastern Oklahoma Dietetic Association.
Polly Robinson, PharmD, CGP, FASCP
Polly Robinson is a St. John Medical Center clinical pharmacist. She received a doctor of pharmacy degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in 2003 and completed a pain management traineeship from the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation in Cleveland in 2006. She is certified by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy. Robinson serves as an assistant professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Pharmacy. She is a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, Oklahoma Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association.
Angie R. Teagle, MTS, BCC
Angie Teagle is a board certified chaplain by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. In addition to serving on St. John’s palliative care team, she ministers in oncology and neonatal and pediatric intensive care units at St. John Medical Center. She serves on the Maternal Child Grief and Companions on the Journey committees.
