When you arrive, enter the parking garage from the circle drive in front of the hospital. Please then report to the surgical registration area on the third floor of the Siegfried building.
You must arrive 1 ½ hours before your surgery is scheduled to begin. Your surgeon will notify you of your surgery time. If you are going to be late for any reason, please notify the One Day Surgery Unit (ODSU) at 918-744-2361.
After check in, you’ll settle in to a room in the ODSU. The nurse will check your vital signs, ask a number of questions, start your IV, and verify allergies and other pertinent medical information. Although some of the questions may be repetitive, they are asked to ensure your safety.
Your nurse will administer pre-operative medications according to the anesthesiologist’s orders. You will receive IV fluids, but you will not be given any medicine to make you sleepy until you talk with the anesthesiologist in the operating room. Your family may stay with you until you are transported to surgery.
Your family will be waiting for you in our waiting room. After the procedure, you’ll be assessed by the staff and your family can then return to visit you.
If you have any questions about the day of your procedure, don’t hesitate to ask your doctor or the One Day Surgery Unit at St. John.
