Community Outreach

Together with local medical professionals, academia and the business community, St. John facilitates outreach and education on stroke.

Tulsa Heart Walk

St. John is honored to serve as a signature sponsor of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Tulsa Heart Walk, created to help fight heart disease and stroke. For more information, visit www.tulsaheartwalk.com.

Power to End Stroke

The St. John Heyman Stroke Center is the health care sponsor of Power to End Stroke, an education and awareness campaign that unites people to help make an impact on the high incidence of stroke within their communities. PTES was developed in 2006 by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association to help reach its mission to reduce stroke and risk of stroke by 20 percent by 2020. PTES also aims to raise critical awareness within the African American population; heart disease and stroke are major health risks for everyone, but African Americans are at particularly high risk. The prevalence of high blood pressure in African Americans is higher in the U.S. than anywhere else in the world. Visit www.powertoendstroke.org to learn more.

Strike Out Stroke

Strike Out Stroke is a new partnership between the St. John Heyman Stroke Center and Tulsa Drillers to promote stroke awareness and education in the Tulsa community. With a family-friendly night of baseball and fireworks, the stroke team provides educational information and fun giveaways.

Go Red for Women

St. John sponsors the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's annual Go Red for Women luncheon, which raises funds to support research, community programs, awareness and education that benefit women affected by heart disease and/or stroke. For more information, visit www.goredforwomen.org.

Corporate Engagement

Members of St. John's stroke team regularly donate their time to speak with companies and organizations about the warning signs of and risks for stroke, providing a platform for health-related questions to be discussed.
