Since 1974, the St. John Breast Center has provided women with hope. While breast cancer can be deadly, it can be cured if found and treated early.
St. John Health System was the first in Tulsa to offer all-digital mammography. This state-of-the-art technology offers advantages to patients and physicians alike, with shorter exam times and images that can display breast abnormalities at an earlier stage. Beyond digital mammography, our comprehensive center offers breast ultrasounds and bone density scans. Both new and traditional minimally invasive biopsy options are available.
Monthly breast self-exams are a lifesaving routine that allows women to detect breast changes early and seek medical intervention. The St. John Breast Center provides self-exam instruction at no charge. We also have a wide array of educational materials.
All women are at risk for developing breast cancer, but some factors can increase the likelihood of developing the disease. Risk factors include a family history of cancer, a long menstrual life (early onset of menstruation and late menopause), not bearing children, having a first child after age 30, and chronic benign breast problems. Having any or all of these risk factors does not mean you will develop breast cancer; however, women should be proactive about recognizing early signs of the disease.
