November marks four years since St. John joined forces with Tulsa Cancer Institute to launch Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, bringing a new level of cancer care to Oklahoma families. Commission on Cancer Accreditation
The Commission on Cancer, a quality program of the American College of Surgeons, challenges cancer programs to enhance the care they provide by addressing patient-centered needs and measuring the quality of the care they deliver against national standards. St. John Medical Center has been accredited by the Commission on Cancer since 1949, longer than any other hospital in Oklahoma.

Survivor Rehabilitation Program
St. John is proud to offer a unique rehabilitation program designed specifically for cancer survivors, to help them physically and emotionally heal from the side effects of cancer and associated treatments.

Look Good Feel Better
Look Good Feel Better is a free, monthly workshop for women undergoing cancer treatment. Volunteer cosmetology professionals teach skin care, makeup and nail care techniques with step-by-step makeover sessions.

The screening showed a mass in her lungs. Thanks to the early detection, Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute was able to start her cancer care before it was too late.

Cindy Hess wouldn’t let Stage IV lung cancer get in the way of watching her nine grandchildren grow up. Through a friend’s recommendation, Cindy found a home away from home at Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute. Within a year’s time, her cancer was gone. “I just feel like I got so lucky that I ended up there,” she says.

Together, Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute and St. John Medical Center offer state-of-the-art therapy tools, such as CyberKnife, Elekta and TomoTherapy. Diagnostic services include MRI, CT and PET, as well as ultrasound, interventional radiology and mammography.
