The da Vinci ® Surgical System
St. John Medical Center is proud to offer the most advanced da Vinci® Surgical System in northeast Oklahoma.
This minimally invasive technology includes a dual-console design, allowing two physicians to participate simultaneously in a surgery, when necessary.
The da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic platform that allows surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions, allowing minimally invasive surgeries to be performed with the precision, dexterity and control of traditional open surgery.
The da Vinci Surgical System consists of an ergonomic surgeon’s console, a patient-side cart with four interactive robotic arms, and a high-performance, three-dimensional high definition vision system. Your doctor controls the entire da Vinci Surgical System, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements. By providing surgeons with superior visualization, enhanced dexterity, greater precision and ergonomic comfort, the da Vinci Surgical System makes it possible for more surgeons in many specialties to perform minimally invasive procedures, greatly expanding the benefits to patients.
The da Vinci Surgical System offers numerous potential benefits over open surgery:
- Shorter hospital stay
- Significantly less pain
- Less blood loss
- Fewer transfusions
- Less scarring
- Quicker return to normal activities
As with any surgery, these benefits cannot be guaranteed, as each patient is different.
