Endoscopy

Jane Phillips Medical Center offers endoscopy services for patients admitted to the hospital and on an outpatient basis. Outpatient procedures are performed at Jane Phillips Outpatient Surgery Center at 230 SE Howard Avenue in Bartlesville. Inpatient and some outpatient procedures are performed in the medical center.

Endoscopy is a procedure that utilizes a digital videoscope to examine areas of the body, including the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, lungs and more. While the procedure can be used for treatment, it has grown in prominence as a diagnostic tool, since using endoscopy for diagnosis often lessens the need for exploratory surgeries. We work closely with your physician on all aspects of your care, including sedation.

Outpatient Surgery Center procedures include:

  • Colonoscopy – The scope is passed through the rectum into the lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract, allowing the physician to examine the lining of the rectum and colon, or large intestine. It is considered the most effective diagnostic tool for colon cancer.
  • Gastroscopy – The scope is passed through the mouth and down the throat, allowing physicians to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.

Inpatient/Outpatient Procedures at the Medical Center Include:

  • Bronchoscopy – The scope is passed through the nose or mouth and down the windpipe into the lungs. This procedure allows the physician to examine major airway passages, identify problems and collect tissue and fluid samples.
