Inpatient Rehabilitation
The Bernsen Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at St. John is a 24-bed, comprehensive inpatient, hospital-based physical rehabilitation unit exclusively for the treatment of those who have experienced a disabling injury or illness.

St. John's rehabilitation programs are designed for maximum flexibility, and every treatment plan is personalized to meet your needs. Bernsen Rehabilitation Center offers specialized services for persons with the following diagnoses:

Our Facility
Bernsen Rehabilitation Center will provide you with every advantage for a rapid recovery. Rooms are spacious and accessible, and an exercise gym on the floor is available to strengthen and stretch muscles.
Bernsen Treatment Team
The treatment team at Bernsen Rehabilitation Center succeeds in helping you resume an active life through an interdisciplinary team approach. Our treatment team includes rehabilitation physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, recreation therapists, rehabilitation nurses, social workers and case managers, psychologists, dietitians and pastoral care staff. After a comprehensive evaluation, our team works with you and your family members to devise a treatment plan. Together, we set common goals and a timetable for achieving them.
Your Road to Wellness
As you prepare to rejoin the mainstream, you may participate in a variety of community re-entry activities. Therapists take small groups of patients to shopping malls, restaurants, movie theaters and other area locations to acquaint them with real-world situations. Re-entry activities are evaluated and approved by each patient's treatment team.
Before discharge, you may relearn everyday living skills by utilizing Bernsen's own fully-equipped training apartment. You may practice everyday activities, including cooking and showering, with the confidence that comes in knowing that help is close at hand.
