MD Anderson Cancer Network® Certified Member

ST. JOHN AND OKLAHOMA CANCER SPECIALISTS HAVE TEAMED UP WITH
MD ANDERSON CANCER NETWORK TO BRING A NEW LEVEL OF CANCER CARE TO THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE.

St. John Health System and Tulsa Cancer Institute joined forces in 2016 to introduce Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute. Together, we are Oklahoma's first and only certified member of MD Anderson Cancer Network, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center. MD Anderson has ranked No. 1 in cancer care in the annual "Best Hospitals" survey published by U.S. News & World Report.

What does membership entail?

As a certified member of the network, Oklahoma Cancer Specialists now have access to pioneering guidelines, treatment plans, and best practices developed by the experts at MD Anderson. The quality improvement program is based on the MD Anderson approach to multidisciplinary cancer care and helps members examine the quality of their oncology services through objective measurement tools and a robust, data-driven improvement process.

How does the affiliation benefit patients?

Today's dynamic health care environment calls us to look at innovative ways to connect with other providers in our field so patients can get comprehensive care under one roof. In the spirit of collaboration and with combined expertise, the two institutions help patients receive high-quality care close to home, in their own community.

What does it mean for my doctors?

The affiliation allows certified oncologists and surgeons at Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and St. John access to some of the innovative cancer resources in the world. Through collaboration, we are expanding our scope of services and further advancing the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and research of cancer. With regular peer reviews, physicians have the ability to consult directly with MD Anderson experts and employ a wide range of multidisciplinary educational opportunities, including disease-specific and evidence-based clinical guidelines, treatment plans and best practices.

Why did Oklahoma Cancer Specialists join the network?

St. John and Tulsa Cancer Institute combined oncology programs to become a state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic center of excellence. Oklahoma Cancer Specialists is well-positioned to fully participate in any new advances in research and technology. This collaboration with the network allows Oklahoma Cancer Specialists to further commit to the advocacy of our patients and their families.
